Welcome to the daily devotional!
This blog began with the goal of posting daily for a year. Now, only 50 days to go, and it has been a sweet and special time of fellowship with the Lord. Each day, I look for His presence in my life, to see what He wants me to write. Thanks to those of you who have shared this walk with me. I hope that as He strengthens my walk with Him that He accomplishes the same in your lives.

Friday, Feb. 5: Who is in charge?
In the last 15 years, archaeologists have uncovered much of the city of Beth-Shean, Israel, where the bodies of King Saul and Jonathan were brought after dying in battle. Often, death comes at an unforeseen time as we tend to forget that life is but a vapor. It has nothing to do with wealth or power. Civilizations are built upon civilizations. Only God knows when one will end and another will begin. He told of five world empires before they occurred through Daniel. That was when King Nebuchadnezzar became the best known “oxy-moron!” Filled with foolish pride from his power and wealth, Nebuchadnezzar grazed like an oxen for seven years, as God punished the king. Yet after seven years, Nebuchadnezzar was able to acknowledge the power of God and humbled himself. At that time, God restored him as king.
Sometimes, we lose sight of who is really in charge when a political candidate we support fails to win. There is no reason to fear, as God’s plan will come to fruition.
20 Daniel answered and said:
"Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding. Daniel 2:20-21 (NKJV)
God calls us to pray for our leaders. That might be easier when the candidate of our choice seems to be representing our beliefs and decisions.
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:1-4
It might not be the easy thing to do, but none of God’s promises for this world seem to have anything to do with ease! Trust Him. He is in charge and He has a purpose and a plan.
