Welcome to the daily devotional!

This blog began with the goal of posting daily for a year. Now, only 50 days to go, and it has been a sweet and special time of fellowship with the Lord. Each day, I look for His presence in my life, to see what He wants me to write. Thanks to those of you who have shared this walk with me. I hope that as He strengthens my walk with Him that He accomplishes the same in your lives.

Wednesday, June 2: Israel against the world!

Open the front page of any newspaper or the lead story on most internet news servers and you will read about the “blistering international criticism” being pointed toward Israel. Check out the stories on the Israeli news websites and you get quite another perspective. For those living under rocks, who have not heard anything about this, a flotilla of international aid workers had decided to break the embargo that Israel imposed on the West Bank. Seventy miles from Israel’s coastline, Israeli commandos dropped from helicopters to board the ships, and turn the flotilla away from the coast of Israel. Why? Israel is not a cruel nation. In fact, anytime a world crisis occurs, Israel is the first nation to send aid workers, for any natural disaster. Israel itself carries food, medicine and other supplies to the West Bank on a daily basis. Even in this situation, Israel offered to escort the ships to the port of Ashdod and have the aid supplies checked through the proper channels before delivering those to the West Bank. Yet the organizers of the flotilla had ulterior motives, of breaking the embargo and re-opening a pipeline that Israel had closed, as the agenda had nothing to do with aid supplies.

This is about weaponry. Another flotilla from Lebanon was stopped months ago in a similar manner. On board, the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) soldiers found thousands of missiles and rockets being sent from Syria and Iraq. Once again, understand that Israel is a small nation, relatively the size of New Jersey. In parts, it is only eight miles across. From the West Bank, the rockets being fired by the Muslims wreak havoc on the Jews of Israel. Since the nations of the world never take the side of Israel, Israel simply is defending itself. That is something Israel is known for, as its commandos are the best trained in the world. That should tell us something about the Arab claims of this flotilla, who affirmed to be unarmed, and said that soldiers fired upon them before boarding. Hmmm. The best trained commandos in the world board a ship of unarmed peacekeepers, and suffer severe injuries? Someone is lying here. In the videos taken by the IDF, impossible to fake, mobs of men from Arabic nations are beating the Israeli soldiers with metal rods and stabbing them with knives. Cases of slingshots and heavy rocks were also found on board.

Were there aid workers on board concerned for the people of the West Bank? Absolutely, as a small representation of truth will fool the masses into thinking there is more truth. There is not! The Muslims don’t want the West Bank. They want all of Israel. They want the extinction of every Jew on the planet. That is what the Koran teaches…to kill the infidel. It’s difficult for those of us in the western world to understand that mentality, for we believe that if you treat your enemy with respect, he will treat you in the same manner. That is not the case with the Muslims! They look upon that behavior as a sign of weakness. Treat them with respect, and they will look for an opening to kill you! Do not be fooled! Am I making all this up? God told us about it in His Word. In the passage below, the Lord appears to Hagar, the concubine of Abraham, and makes promises to her:

9 The Angel of the LORD said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.” 10 Then the Angel of the LORD said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.” 11 And the Angel of the LORD said to her:

“Behold, you are with child,
And you shall bear a son.
You shall call his name Ishmael,
Because the LORD has heard your affliction.
12 He shall be a wild man;

His hand shall be against every man,
And every man’s hand against him.
And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”
Genesis 16:9-12

Mohammed, the founder of Islam, came from Ketar, the second son of Ishmael’s 12 sons, though there were more than 2,500 years between these two men. Just as God promised, He has multiplied the descendants of Ishmael exceedingly, with a number approaching 2 billion in the world today! Verse 12 above translated directly says, “He will be like a wild donkey of a man.” Certainly, their hands are against every man, and they also live among their brethren!

The other part of this incident that is interesting is the participation of Turkey. Up until this year, Turkey has been Israel’s closest ally in the Muslim world. Over the years, the two nations even have participated in joint military exercises. Yet that relationship was strained before the events of this week, and has been further strained (irreparably?) by the death of at least nine Turks this week in the event on the flotilla. Why is that important? In Ezekiel 38, God tells us the nations who will join together in a major battle against the nation of Israel. One of those nations is Togarmah, widely accepted by Bible scholars as a reference to southern Turkey, near the Syrian border. Additionally, the Bible tells us that in the latter days, all the nations of the world will gather against the apple of His eye:

Behold, the day of the LORD is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
 Zechariah 14:1-2

It all comes down to the Western Bank. The Muslims call it Palestine, but they call all of Israel by that name. That word is offensive to me, as God named the nation Israel, just as He gave Jacob that name! The word Palestine comes from the Biblical word “Philistine,” and to remind you, these were the people God told the children of Israel to destroy when He gave them the Promised Land. Yet instead of following God’s mandate, the Israelites allowed some of the Philistines to remain in the Promised Land. The giant Goliath was a Philistine! To this day, those same people continue to be thorns in the side of the Jews. Israel’s disobedience to God’s order still has ramifications. Are you ready for the show to come? Trust His Word! It never has been wrong! Whatever you do, bless Israel. God gave that land to Israel, with a deed of trust. It doesn’t matter how bad the nation of Islam desires it, God will not let go!  Can you see all the nations coming against Israel?  It doesn't seem so far-fetched, does it?
